A Joyous First Diwali Together
Actress Swara Bhasker is filled with happiness as she gears up to celebrate her first Diwali with husband Fahad Ahmad and his family in Delhi. The actress expressed her excitement, saying this year’s festival holds deep emotional value as both families come together under one roof.
“I’m so happy because it’s the first time my husband’s family is visiting Delhi to celebrate Diwali with me. I’ve got new outfits stitched for them, and I’m really looking forward to enjoying these moments together,” Swara shared.
Cherishing Childhood Memories
Swara fondly looked back on her childhood celebrations in Delhi. She recalled the excitement of making rangoli, lighting diyas after Lakshmi Puja, and the simple joy of family gatherings. Laughing, she said, “Our rangoli was never perfect, but we always felt proud of it.”
Unlike those who enjoy noisy fireworks, Swara prefers phooljadi, anar, and chakri, adding that sweets were always her favourite part of Diwali. “Kaju katli was the highlight of the festival. We used to compete over who could open the box first,” she smiled.
Embracing Interfaith Harmony
Swara also opened up about her interfaith marriage and the warmth she has experienced since joining Fahad’s family. She shared that their relationship represents mutual respect, acceptance, and cultural harmony.
“There’s a misconception that Muslims are conservative, but Fahad’s family has accepted me for who I am. I feel grateful to be part of a family that celebrates both our faiths with love,” she said.
Swara added that she enjoys taking part in both traditions — “I may not fast during Ramadan, but I love joining them for iftar. And they celebrate Diwali with me — that’s the beauty of love.”
From Glitz to Simplicity
Once a familiar face at Bollywood Diwali parties, including those hosted by her friend Sonam Kapoor, Swara now prefers celebrating the festival in a more peaceful, family-oriented way. “My idea of Diwali has changed over the years. I now value quiet celebrations at home, surrounded by family, love, and comfort,” she said.
A Celebration Beyond Religion
For Swara, this year’s Diwali represents togetherness, shared traditions, and unity across cultures. Her celebration with Fahad’s family highlights how love can beautifully bridge differences.
