“Celebrating Eid Across India: A Day of Unity, Peace, and Joy”

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramzan. On March 31, Muslims across India celebrated with prayers, family gatherings, and festive meals. The spirit of peace and unity was evident everywhere.

Eid Prayers in Major Cities

In Delhi, thousands gathered at Jama Masjid for Eid prayers. The mosque was heavily guarded for safety. After the prayers, people shared traditional dishes like sewai and kheer with loved ones.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished everyone well, saying, “May this festival strengthen the spirit of hope, harmony, and kindness. Eid Mubarak!”

Uttar Pradesh: Peaceful Prayers with Tight Security

In Uttar Pradesh, over 31,500 mosques hosted Eid prayers. In Sambhal, a region that had experienced tension, flowers were thrown at worshippers in a sign of peace. Authorities used drones to monitor the situation and ensure safety.

Some protests took place in Aligarh against a proposed Bill, but these did not disrupt the celebrations.

Kashmir: Restricted Prayers but Strong Spirit

In Jammu and Kashmir, Eid prayers occurred under strict security. Some locations, like the Jama Masjid in Srinagar, were closed. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the region’s top cleric, condemned the restrictions, calling for the freedom to pray.

Despite these restrictions, large crowds gathered at Hazratbal Shrine, showing their resilience.

Celebrations in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh

Eid in Gujarat was peaceful, with thousands attending prayers at Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad. In Indore, a Hindu family continued a 50-year-old tradition of transporting the city’s Qazi to the main Idgah on a horse carriage, symbolizing communal harmony.

Rajasthan: A Day of Processions

In Rajasthan’s Tonk district, thousands participated in a procession after Eid prayers. Although this caused a traffic jam, authorities quickly resolved the issue. There were no reports of communal tensions.

Southern and Eastern India: Brotherhood on Display

In Telangana and Tamil Nadu, people gathered for Eid prayers at locations like Mir Alam Eidgah in Hyderabad. In Kerala, the Muslim community celebrated together. In Nagaland, large crowds attended prayers at Jame Masjid in Kohima and Eidgah in Dimapur.

Minor Clashes in Some Areas

While most of the celebrations were peaceful, there were some isolated incidents. In Aligarh, people wore black armbands in protest. In Saharanpur, some youths waved Palestinian flags, but these actions did not disrupt the celebrations. In Gurugram, a minor clash between two groups led to injuries, but police quickly stepped in to restore order.

Conclusion: A Day of Peace and Unity

Eid-ul-Fitr in India was a day of unity and joy. Despite a few isolated incidents, the celebrations remained peaceful. Communities came together to celebrate with prayers, festive meals, and messages of goodwill. This Eid reflected the values of peace, harmony, and brotherhood.
