Odisha Approves 178 MW of Wind and Solar Projects to Boost Renewable Energy

The government of Odisha, an eastern state in India along the Bay of Bengal, has approved four new renewable energy parks. Together, these projects will add 178 MW of clean energy to the state’s power supply.

Large Investment in Clean Energy

The state’s Energy Department gave the green light to these projects. They represent an investment of about INR 8.7 billion (USD 100.5 million / EUR 86 million). This shows Odisha’s strong focus on expanding its renewable energy sources.

Details of the Projects

  • First, a 69.5 MW solar park will be built in Subarnapur district by Gujarat-based Prozeal Green Energy Limited.

  • Next, Inox Solar Limited will develop a 49.5 MW solar photovoltaic farm in Keonjhar district.

  • Additionally, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has received approval for a 10 MW solar project in Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda district.

  • Finally, NLC India Renewables Limited will install 49.5 MW of wind turbines in Nabarangpur district.

Odisha’s Renewable Energy Goals

These projects help Odisha meet its Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs). They also support India’s wider climate goals. Odisha aims to reach 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
