Significant Growth in Beneficiaries
In a major boost for farmers in Odisha, more than 34.98 lakh farmers have received financial support under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, according to State Agriculture Secretary Arabinda Padhee. This marks an increase of 3.43 lakh beneficiaries compared to last year.
During the 19th installment distribution event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Padhee highlighted the increasing participation of farmers in the scheme. He credited the rise in numbers to special enrollment drives that helped include those who were previously left out due to documentation or verification issues.
Farmers See Direct Financial Support
The PM-KISAN scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to small and marginal farmers in three equal installments, helping them manage agricultural expenses and improve productivity. Odisha’s latest enrollment figures indicate the scheme’s growing impact on rural livelihoods and agricultural growth.
Key Figures from This Year’s Enrollment:
- Total Farmers Benefited: 34,98,147
- Increase from Last Year: 3,43,447
- Special Drive Success: Helped register previously rejected applicants
Farmers Encouraged to Register Online
To ensure all eligible farmers receive the benefits, the government has urged those who haven’t yet enrolled to apply through the official portal. The streamlined online process simplifies registration, making it easier for farmers to access the funds.
This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to supporting agricultural communities, strengthening economic stability in villages, and ensuring financial security for small and marginal farmers.
With more farmers benefiting each year, the PM-KISAN scheme continues to play a crucial role in India’s agricultural development.
